Frequently asked questions about 'on the spot' caricaturing

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

This can depends on a number of things:
· How long is the booking for?
· What’s the location?
· What date is the event planned for?
A firm quotation can be given once these details have been discussed. The fee covers the cost of all materials used and the individual signed caricatures are given as free mementos to the guests.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?

This can also depend on a few things like, how old, chatty or drunk the ’victim’ is. Sometimes they are all three!

Generally speaking though it takes approximately 6 minuets per drawing.
John uses black and grey inks to give added depth and quality to the finished drawing.

DO WE NEED TO PROVIDE ANYTHING?
If you require John to be seated in a designated area then a couple of chairs is all he needs. Please ensure he is situated in a reasonably well-lit area, as he needs to see and be seen for the best results!
If you want him to circulate around the room then all he needs is a good level of light.

CAN HE DO GROUPS?
Yes, couples being the most commonly requested but the bigger the group gets the longer they take to do and they are less detailed than individual drawings. Plus who gets to keep the original?
It’s a good idea to scan all the required drawings into a computer and create a group montage yourself. That way you get to keep your own drawing and get a group copy!

ARE PEOPLE EVER INSULTED?
No, John’s style ensures that he captures a likeness without the need to go over the top. He tends to flatter the Ladies and be a bit less flattering with the Gents.
See some examples on the ‘On The Spot’ page.

HOW DO WE MAKE A BOOKING?
Easy, Contact John to check he is available on your required date and discuss your requirements. If he’s free and you decide you want to progress with a booking then he will provisionally reserve the date and will send you a booking form for confirmation.
